Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. it means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart."

YOGA THERAPY

Yoga Therapy is now an integral part of Yoga in the modern world. The practice helps those recovering from, or living with, injuries, conditions and illnesses. It see’s yoga as a form of deep therapy in healing the body and mind by using effective alignment principles, specific holistic programmes designed for individuals, and an alternative way of treating physical, psychological or emotional issues.

Yoga Therapy has now emerged as a discipline in itself due to the fact that more health professionals are turning to Yoga as a technique for healing and recovery. Integrating Yoga and Ayurveda, the sister to the practice, individuals can manage their conditions such as sciatica, stress, anxiety & depression, high blood pressure, heart conditions, alopecia, arthritis, scoliosis, back problems, alignment correction, PTSD and PCOS, thus reducing symptoms to restore balance, and increase vitality and their over-all outlook on life.

It is usually practiced as a private form of yoga, or in very small group classes, so that specific issues can be addressed with care, and attention. Therefore, the integration of body and mind is crucial in the healing process, but through yoga we can support this practice by being open to the spiritual realm that comes from doing yoga. By being receptive to this, we can bring a whole new aspect to movement and breathing within yoga therapy, and understand the effective use of meditation and developing awareness, as a preventative form of medicine. Alexa has worked with a wide range of therapeutic clients in her private practice to help them over-come and manage their health concerns with excellent outcomes, often changing her clients outlook on their lives in a very mindful and positive way and in extreme cases preventing the need for surgery or prescription medicine.
